This is Alyssa, social media guru for the Heyward House Historic Center. It was decided that a blog should be started for the Heyward House to documents the goings-on at the house. I will try to blog daily about things that are going on here, and trust me quite a lot happens around here!
The Heyward House Historic Center is a house museum and official welcome center in Bluffton South Carolina. We are a town located between Beaufort and Hilton Head, if you have gone to Hilton Head you have driven through Bluffton. The Heyward House is located in the heart of Old Town Bluffton, the 1 square mile historic district. The house is one of eight homes and two churches that survive from the antebellum period. Little known fact about Bluffton: The Town was burned on June 4, 1863 by the Union Navy. (No, Sherman didn’t come through here.)
We’ve got a lot of history, and I will be happy to share it with the folks that read this blog. Stay tuned!
