Monday- Friday: 10am-5pm and Saturday: 10am-4pm
Parking
Parking is located beside the Heyward House on the shoulders of Green Street and Bridge Street, and on Calhoun Street. The area behind the house is handicap and staff parking only. It is a part of our tour area.

Anthony Barrett

Anthony Barrett

Bluffton Historical Preservation Society Executive Director

Anthony Barrett comes to the Bluffton Historical Preservation Society after having served more than thirty-seven years as a Town Manager, City Manager and County Manager in a number of communities in Virginia, North Carolina, Illinois, Florida and most recently as the Town Manager of Bluffton, South Carolina.  Mr. Barrett also worked in the private sector as a commercial development consultant for five years prior to becoming the Town Manager of Bluffton and is a Vietnam Veteran. He is a graduate of Virginia Wesleyan College with an undergraduate degree in History and Political Science. His graduate studies at Wake Forest University in Winston-Salem, North Carolina consisted of work in American History and he is also a graduate of the University of North Carolina School of Municipal Government in Chapel Hill, North Carolina. Mr. Barret became the Executive Director of the Society on May 18, 2016.

Administrative Support

Caitlin was born and raised in Charleston, WV. She attended West Virginia Wesleyan College and received a BFA in Painting and Photography. She moved to Savannah, GA in 2011 and later received her MFA from Savannah College of Art and Design in Historic Preservation. She worked in museums in Savannah as an historic interpreter before coming to the Heyward House Historic Center in May of 2016 as admin support.

Katie Epps

Katie Epps

Director and Curator

Katie grew up in Charleston, SC where she fell in love with history and graduated from the College of Charleston in 2001 with a Bachelor of Science in Anthropology and a minor in History.  She continued her studies at the University of South Carolina, where she earned her Master of Arts in Anthropology in 2004.  She moved to Bluffton in 2004, where she was the Field Director and Archaeologist for a local archaeology firm.  She changed fields in 2009 and worked as a contractor at Fort Stewart in the Environmental Division where she wrote National Environmental Policy Act documents for the Army and helped conduct archaeological excavations with their Cultural Resource Management Section.  In May of 2013, she joined the staff of the Bluffton Historical Preservation Society as the manager of the Heyward House Historic Center.
