Fundraisers that benefit the Heyward House

School Days Volunteer

School Days Volunteer

  • Enjoy working with children? Come spend a School Day at the Heyward House and watch little eyes light up as they explore their local history.
  • School programs are customized for individual groups, in order to better fit grade levels and class curriculum.  Small groups of students move through 10 – 15 minute stations, and learn about Bluffton life in the 1800’s.
  • Past stations include Low Country Native Americans, Summer Kitchens: What They Ate & How They Cooked It, Archaeology & Artifacts, May River Ecology, Old-fashioned Children’s Games, Southern Music, The Impact of Slavery on Children’s Lives, Bluffton 101, and more

Special Events

Special Events

  • We host several community events plus one major fundraiser throughout the year, and volunteers can help with any step in the process, from pre-event publicity, decorations, or assisting during the event– perfect for those who want to be involved but don’t want to donate time on a regular basis.
  • Sponsorship is an enormous help when it comes to fundraising!  Donations of equipment, services, and items to auction are extremely beneficial to BHPS.  Please contact us if you or your company would like more information on tax-deductible contributions that help us preserve Bluffton’s history.

Building and Grounds

Building and Grounds

  • Like to get your hands dirty?  Master Gardeners come once a month and work on the gardens and grounds– contact us for more information.
  • Handy with tools?  Old homes are always in need of general repairs and maintenance!  Hiring professionals can be costly; when you donate your time and talents it translates to drastic savings in our operations budget.
  • Volunteer your services on an as-needed basis if you’ve got a knack for carpentry, plumbing, painting, furniture repair, or landscaping.
